First look: Subrosa Malum 22

After much anticipation/hinting that it would come…Subrosa has confirmed that they are rolling out a 22″ in their 2019 lineup.

Part of the Malum line (it goes by “Malum 22”) it appears to be solidly spec’d.

(It even comes stock with a Shadow Interlock chain which is a nice touch.)

In terms of frame specs/geo, this is what we’re working with:

  • Head angle: 74 degrees
  • Seat angle: 71 degrees
  • Top Tube: 21.5″
  • Chain stay: 14″
  • Standover: 9″

The frame, fork & bars are 100% cro-mo.

(See everything else here)

Watch for these to be hitting your local Subrosa dealer any day now (if they’re not there already).

Double flip on a 22

We’ve had a couple posts in the past tracking Josh Hult’s journey with his prototype 22″ Mongoose. Looks like he’s getting pretty comfortable with it by the looks of things.

Check out this post from the weekend where Josh throws down an epic double flip aboard his 22″.

Radness!

Tall stems: the next big thing?

Tall bars have been “a thing” for a while now…but is the next “big thing” to raise your front end…the tall stem?

It might be too early to call…but signs seem to be pointing that way.

Case in point, the new Summit Stem from Odyssey.

Punching in with a 45mm rise, this is one tall stem.

Whether you want to run more “regular size” bars or just maximize the height of your bike’s front end by pairing them with the tall bar du jour…this definitely adds another way to customize your ride to your particular specifications.

The rest of the deets:

  • 48mm reach
  • Special surface contouring & a larger bolt head spec for superior handlebar grip
  • Six bolt clamping configuration
  • Headset pre-load bolt recess (32mm diameter)
  • 6061-T6 aluminum, CNC machined
  • 13.4 oz (379 g)

Fit goes chrome for its new 22″

Hot on the heels of learning that the Stolen Spade 22 is going chrome in 2019…we find out that Fitbikeco is going chrome as well for its 2019 model 22″.

Word on the street is that the BF22 is being discontinued and replaced by this new chrome beauty.

Chris Moeller let the cat out of the bag when a picture showed up on the socials of him reclining post photoshoot with a beer…and the new 22″ hanging on the bike rack behind him.

No word yet on specs or geometry….but it looks mighty tasty!

(And it looks like we might have a chrome trend on our hands…not that I’m complaining)
