Big Boyz for the Hod

When you’re 6’5″, like S&M’s Mike Hoder, big bars are a necessity…

…especially when you’re rolling on a 20″.

So even though Hoder already has signature bars in 8.6 and 9″ rises…he’s bumped things up on the latest iteration of his bars to a height more fitting of his stature: 9.5″.

What I Ride - Mike Hoder

Seems like the right move.

Speaking of right move…

Don’tcha think Hoder might be next in line for a signature 22″?

Heck, BF clocks in at 6’1″…it makes sense that Hoder’s BTM frame should come in a 22″ version.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Keeping things serious

It’s been a while so I thought I would get back into the swing of things with a super serious post.

This older clip of Nick Sawyers getting some serious sessioning in should do the trick.

Gary Turner 22″ Legend frame set

Want to relive the 80s glory days when GT Pro Performers and Dyno Compes ruled the freestyle world?

Think you’ve outgrown 20″ bikes…and the new 26″ GT Performer reboot is just a tad too big?

Well, you’re in luck!

Gary Turner (the original “GT”) just debuted his new 22″ legend frame.

Featuring a lot of the style cues of the OG GT & Dyno freestyle bikes but scaled up for larger riders (it features a 22″ top tube too)…this frame/fork set is a real looker.

You can’t see it all in this photo (click over to the Gary Turner Facebook page for a more detailed video) but the frame features a top tube platform, a Pro Performer-like downtube and Bottema-ish forks….if you rode in that era, you know how cool this stuff is.

No details yet on the geo and the rest of the specs…but it definitely has our attention!

Rolling in the steep

Rolling in the steep.

Rolling in the street.

With apologies to Adele, this new 22″ frame and fork kit from Anthem Bikes, The JIB, is ready to shred the streets.

With the majority of current 22″ bikes geared to dirt, the field was wide open for a company to build something more street focused.

It looks like Anthem might just be that company!

Featuring a steep 76 degree head angle, short-ish 13.97″ chainstay and 12.71″ bottom bracket…this is — no doubt — going to be one very responsive street jib machine (hence the name?)

Brakeless and set up with chainstay grind plates, you know the streets are going to be where this ride is really going to shine.

Things are definitely starting to get interesting in the 22″ game!
