BF22: back in black for 2018

Fitbikeco’s BF22 is returning to the Fit lineup for the 2018 model year.

This time it’s back in trans black with a full (yes!) cro-mo frame.

Chris Moeller dropped a teaser pic of it the other day…and boy, does it ever look nice!

It seemed that the only “complaint” with the BF22 last year was the frame not being full cro-mo…with that addressed, Fit just made a good complete bike even better.

Which is good timing given that with so many new (and updated) 22s hitting the market… bike buyers are going to have a lot of choice…and bike companies can’t be seen as not offering the best bang for the buck.

First look: 22″ DK General Lee

With so much 22″ stuff in the pipeline set for release — much of it already on the radar with “sneak peeks” and the like — it’s kinda nice to get surprised with something unexpected.

Case in point, DK dropping the news in a cheeky instagram post (below) that a 22″ version of the iconic DK General Lee was coming out.

Word on the street is that the new rig shares the same geo as the 22″ DK Vega…and like the DK Vega, the 22″ General Lee will be full cro-mo.

Pretty cool.

If this comes in at anywhere near the pricepoint of the Vega (and why wouldn’t it?)…look out, because this bike is probably going to be a hot seller.

Big bars, back in the day

Think the big handlebar trend is strictly a new school thing?

Not exactly.

Back in the 80s, there were a few tall bar options…if you knew where to seek them out (and if you could find them!)

Case in point, the GT XT handlebars

Clocking in at a 10-3/4″ rise, these were tall before tall was cool.

The XT in the name stood for extra tall and, according to the ad, were “for tall pro’s.”

I don’t think Nelson Chanady (in the ad) was that tall…but he sure looks like he means business though, don’t he?

Fit Hoodbird frame: tall & steep

Morgan Long’s new signature frame lives up to it’s tall and steep billing with a 9.5” stand-over and a 5” head tube (that’s .375” taller than normal).

In fact, the Hoodbird with a 75.75 degree head angle is the tallest and steepest frame Fit Bikes has made to date.

It’s also built strong (in America) with a Supertherm front end, double gussets and 6mm dropouts…so it can take beating regardless of what hood you’re in (or what terrain you’re riding).

All of which adds up to a great frame if you’re looking for a tall, fast steering and strong ride.
